Expected Impacts
InnoForESt fosters the improvement, assessment, and mainstreaming of policy and business innovations into the European forestry sector. The expected impacts of InnoForESt are:
Enhanced coordination in policy making
The stock-taking work of InnoForESt will support the development of forest management, policy, and business practice. By generating a holistic information database and maps, InnoForESt will produce an understanding of the forestry innovation landscape, which will improve the decision-making, in particular in policy design and business allocation.
Development of novel policies and business processes
InnoForESt facilitates the improvement, development and mainstreaming of policy and business innovations with help of real-world pilots for forest ecosystem service provision and financing, digital and physical innovation platforms for collaborative action, and recommendations to navigate the design of policy and business models in the long run.
Increased incentives for the sustainable supply of essential forest ecosystem service
InnoForESt will build on promising innovations, assessing and cross-comparing their effectiveness and effects, and further developing strategies that smartly incentivise the provision of the wide range of forest ecosystem services as bundles.
Sustainable production of wood and non-wood forest products
InnoForESt will lay a basis for broadening the goals and rationales of forest management, by adding onto the goals of production of marketable wood and non-wood products, the new sustainable biomass-based bio-economy value chains and a diverse set of non-material forest ecosystem services.
